Social media is an ever-changing landscape for its users and it can seem that with each week, there’s something new on offer. With each platform competing for the most screen time, the best ways to grab attention and keep engagement high, Youbee Media have created a quick roundup of insights from the online world of social media. Some of these insights may encourage your business to adapt its online strategy, think of a new direction or to try and incorporate some of these factors into your marketing plan.
1. Answering the conscious consumer

In 2021 we’ve seen a sharp rise in conscious consumerism as our audience has become more socially aware. Your followers care far less about how often you post, and more about the content of posts, the authenticity behind the brand and how their purchasing decision will make them feel.
Does your product or service have the ability to make your audience feel good about dealing with you? If you can consider your social impact, your corporate social responsibility and sustainability in a portion of your content, you may find a more engaged following.
2. Businesses move to TikTok

There is a growing audience of people who are going to TikTok to discover new products and be inspired to purchase them. As one of the fastest growing social media platforms in the world, whether you’re a small business is looking to sell candles, clothing or art – there is a place for you on TikTok.
TikTok has 689 million active users worldwide, 62% of which are under the age of 30. If your business is looking to be found by more people around the world, it could be time to consider video marketing on this platform
3. Goodbye to Fleets

From the 3rd August 2021, Fleets will no longer be available on Twitter. Whether you’ll miss them or even notice that they’ve gone – this does tell us something about the Twitter audience. Twitter is a fast-moving platform with content being turned around very quickly. With people not engaging with Twitter in the way that the creators had hoped they’re now moving on to ecommerce options and looking to integrate a shopping module on business profiles.
4. Create amazing graphics with Canva

Have you tried Canva? It’s a free platform (with upgrade options) that allows users to create graphics, presentations, postcards, videos and more. You can create a brand kit for your business and get creative with many of the tools available. Canva has been increasing in popularity for a few years now, but if you need a bit of training in how to use the tool – get in touch with Youbee Media and we can guide you through a number of tips and tricks.
5. Guides on Instagram

Instagram Guides are a cross between Instagram carousels and blog posts and are an easy way to repurpose your best content. Guides may have slipped under your radar with Instagram Live, Shops, Reels, a rearranged home screen all happening in 2020 – but with more time to browse, guides are a cool way to view blog style format. Once created, Guides appear in a dedicated tab on a person’s or brand’s profile and can be shared in Stories or direct messages.
