Audiences aren’t only consuming more social media content than in previous years; they’re also demanding more features from their favourite platforms. Usage patterns have shifted across different age groups, with younger users often driving trends, while platforms may restrict access based on age or privacy settings to ensure safe engagement for all users.
As Youbee’s Content Executive and social media addict, I predict 3 key trends for social media in 2024:
Goodbye so-so socials - from Youbee Olivia
Audiences aren’t only consuming more social media content than in previous years; they’re also demanding more features from their favourite platforms.
As Youbee's Content Executive and social media addict, I predict 3 key trends for social media in 2024:

1) The prioritisation of long-form content
Short-form video content has been booming on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube shorts ,for a few years now, but I think a slight shift will occur in 2024 as we start to make more time for long-form content. Both TikTok and Instagram have given users the ability to produce longer content, potentially making 15-second video clips a thing of the past.
Storytelling video is perennially popular well with audiences, whether it’s sharing an experience or a personal interaction with a brand. We’re seeing a large increase in brands, influencers and creators using storytelling to enhance their authenticity and sell in new ways. Their approach can be subtle, subversive, or have a shock factor – but honest and candid storytelling always resonates. To hit all the right notes, this calls for longer content.
2) Open the door and let them in
Giving your audience more time to get to know the ‘real you’ links nicely onto my second prediction. Over the years, many social media users have had trouble with fake reviews, been scammed by fake sellers, and been pushed to buy an item that turns out to be rubbish that’s nowhere close to the advertised product. As a result, audiences have grown accustomed to fresh and authentic content. Consumer habits have shifted, and people are becoming more selective of the content they see on their feeds. Building trust with consumers is crucial, and this can be achieved by providing honest, authentic, and direct engagement with them.
Last year we saw Instagram release Threads, a conversation-starting platform, for raw content, as a way for companies to put a personality behind their brand. The introduction of Broadcast Channels had a similar emphasis, as this feature allows brands, influencers, and companies to directly engage with their customers, making them feel more included, and part of an inner circle.
3) Product placement will take over online ads
In 2023, it was no surprise to learn that social media has become a major competitor to Google. A large percentage of consumers worldwide are shifting towards platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook as their primary search engines. Product placement in social media content is becoming more prevalent as people continue to reject disruptive ads, preferring non-intrusive product promotion. I predict that product placement will become even more dominant in influencer marketing, and brands will utilise their network and employees to create authentic content with their products at the centre of the content. This will come in the form of lifestyle posts, storytelling content, and helpful recommendation-centric content.
Marketing without the drone – from Youbee Becky
My own 2024 predications are less algorithm, AI or tech-based: they’re a combination of my conclusions from active listening and ongoing industry experience. As a solutions-driven strategist, I’ve always prided myself on being able to actively listen and come up with the right answer. I connect with clients and I trust my gut, but my instincts are backed by years of industry experience at the helm of an award-winning marketing company.

I still speak to businesses from a multitude of sectors that are grappling with rising costs. Whether it’s wages, energy, fuel or materials – everyone is trying to achieve more on a tighter budget. From a marketing perspective, that means there’s less willingness to commit to long term contracts, accompanied by a higher demand for ROI.
At Youbee Media, we’re tackling this by being consistently agile in our service offerings. We don’t tie people into long term contracts and we bespoke all our packages. We make sure that customers experience trust, value and results, so they don’t feel constrained or frustrated.
In addition, I’m seeing more and more businesses turn to Paid Ads. Whether it’s through Google or social media, paid content seems to be the solution to remedy an eerily quiet marketplace. My advice with this one is to do your research! Set aside some of your budget to test this fully, and don’t quit after 1 month. These things take time.
Finally, I’m predicting a surge in collaboration in 2024. With belts being tighter, businesses that choose to collaborate rather than compete will stand a better chance of fulfilling client needs. One-person marketing departments can’t carry all the weight – so open up, and let some teamwork make the dream work!
Honeytrap design – from Youbee Dena
Back in my 1980s childhood, sci-fi and pop science TV shows suggested that by 2024, we’d be driving shiny hover cars and sporting stylish metallic jumpsuits. That was what the Future Aesthetic was all about, right?
Looking to the year ahead, exciting transformations are underway, due in a large part to the power that AI (artificial intelligence) design programs now possess. AI technology has been on the rise for some time now, continually developing and refining its capabilities.
So, let’s check out five AI trends that will impact the design landscape in 2024:

1. 3D and Immersive Designs
Advancing technology means that 3D elements can be more easily introduced into design projects. From product packaging to website interfaces, 3D designs will provide a more immersive experience for users. This trend allows brands to showcase their products or services in a fresh and visually engaging, interactive style.
2. AI-powered Design Tools
AI is revolutionising the way designers work by automating repetitive tasks and offering intelligent suggestions. In 2024, we can expect to see more AI-powered design tools that assist designers in creating stunning visuals with greater efficiency and accuracy.
3. Personalised Design Experiences
Harnessing AI's ability to analyse vast amounts of data, designers will be able to create personalised design experiences tailored to individual users. Whether it's customizing website interfaces or creating targeted marketing materials, AI will enable designers to deliver highly personalized and engaging designs.
4. Generative Design
Generative design is an emerging trend that leverages AI algorithms to create unique and innovative designs. By inputting specific parameters and constraints, designers can let AI generate countless design variations, helping them explore new creative possibilities and push boundaries.
5. Augmented Reality (AR) Integration
AR has already made its mark in various industries, and graphic design is no exception. In 2024, we can expect to see more graphic designers incorporating AR elements into their work, creating immersive and interactive experiences for users.
These advanced AI tools and trends will be a game-changer for graphic designers in 2024, helping us to create visually stunning and impactful designs. AI is now truly influencing the future of the industry. Get ready for an exciting and innovative year ahead!
Sweet Success: Measuring Your Marketing with Analytics
In the world of social media marketing, guessing just doesn’t cut it anymore. If you want to increase brand awareness and truly connect with your target audience, you need to know what’s working—and what’s not. That’s where analytics tools come in, serving up a delicious helping of data to guide your next move.
By using analytics, you can dive deep into how your content is performing across different social media platforms. Tracking engagement metrics like likes, comments, and shares gives you a real-time snapshot of what your audience loves (and what they scroll past). This information is gold for any brand looking to refine their strategy and make every post count.
But it’s not just about counting likes. Analytics tools help you understand your audience’s behavior, preferences, and the best times to post for maximum impact. With this data, you can tailor your content to better suit your audience, increase engagement, and boost your brand’s image online.
Making data-driven decisions means you’re not just throwing content out there and hoping for the best. Instead, you’re building a strategy based on real insights, helping you increase brand awareness and get the most out of your social media marketing efforts. So, if you want your brand to stand out and your audience to keep coming back for more, make analytics your secret ingredient for sweet success!
