On the morning of Thursday 2nd December, I received the very sad news that Mandy Taylor had passed away just before midnight last night. Mandy had been very ill, we knew that the time was coming, and it was heart-breaking to hear that Mandy had lost her battle with cancer. No stranger to cancer, this was in fact Mandy’s third time battling the illness. Through all the sadness, tears and memories shared with others that knew Mandy, I’ve learned some real, life changing lessons. These are the important things I’ll always keep with me.
How to ‘Be More Mandy’

Over many years, Mandy has raised almost £2 million for charities, given her time, supported foodbanks, hosted charity fashion shows and encouraged so many others to get involved and help others. Always with a smile, Mandy was a social butterfly, a ‘celebrity’ in Yorkshire and someone that everyone (so it would seem) knew on some level. Now that the ‘Charity Angel’ Mandy has finally got her wings, I know that the baton has been passed and it’s up to others to do a little bit more to just be a bloody good person.
To ‘Be More Mandy’ is a way of doing something good for the benefit of someone else. So even if it’s picking up the phone to a friend in need, paying it forward or supporting a local charity event – now is the time to pull together and do a little bit more.
If not now, when?
Support the Mandathon
Tina Boden had the idea of walking a marathon distance for charity from Whitby to Filey in May 2022. This event was given Mandy’s blessing and already has the support of friends and businesses from right across the Yorkshire region. Now that the fund has been created for Mandy, it’s even easier to get involved – and you don’t have to walk a marathon.
If you would like to pledge your support, get involved or help the committee with the first ever #Mandathon, visit www.bemoremandy.org.

Many others have the idea of setting up events for Mandy’s campaign and to help raise funds so that underprivileged children can create memories. If you want support from the committee on this, contact hello@bemoremandy.org.

Huddersfield based software development house, Torchbearer met with Mandy to discuss a website that would point people towards the fundraising page, allow people to share images and memories and also find out more ways to #BeMoreMandy. My pledge
In a conversation with Mandy, she told me that she was passing the baton! She wanted me and my marketing consultancy Youbee Media to keep #BeMoreMandy going and encourage more people to do great things. This is my pledge to Mandy:
- I have signed up to support the Brighouse based foodbank, Focus4Hope in 2022 with friend and fellow business owner, Michelle Cowan from SocialSendr
- I will continue giving my time to the #BeMoreMandy committee as we continue to raise awareness of Mandy’s campaign
- If I get an idea to do something good for someone else, I will always just do it
- I try to see the good in every situation, be a positive person and have a positive impact on others
What will your pledge be?
